Hi

I have been reading up on all the threads regarding tyres. I now know that I need to buy 215/55 r16 reinforced ones. I have checked out prices, and have unfortunately left it too late to purchase on-line.

I appear to have 3 main choices Continental eco contact

Go back to National with your receipt and make a big fuss!

Tell them you want all four tyres replaced but you'll only pay for three, and you expect them to do it at cost price or you'll escalate big style by writing to head office and reporting them to trading standards.

They will quickly work out which side their bread is buttered, incorrect tyre fitment is a very serious safety issue, and the Branch Manager would probably face a disciplinary hearing if head office got wind of it!

Go get 'em. :(

I called in at my local branch of Just Tyres 2 weeks ago, and said that I was just looking around in readiness to buy next month. They matched the internet price just to secure my business that day; very impressed. Came away with 2 new Avons at

For me it has to be the Conti EcoContacts which I recently had put on the front.

Having had Dunlop 2020's from new the Conti's are noticeably better for grip and don't snatch like the Dunlop's used to do under quick acceleration.

Ive been in the tyre business for the best part of 10 years up until a while ago, when I had to finish work for family reasons, but my advise would be to go for the Conti's they are quiet, grip really well, and have the best tread wear rating which is on the side of the tyre. This means in theory they should last the longest aswell.

My Gal was delivered with Michelins which were nice & quite and grippy too. Disadvantage is that they were worn with 15k miles (might be the driving, i know....) so i already 'consumed' 10 of those. Good tyre and quite expensive @

Thanks for the advice.

I went back to National Tyres who told me that according to their info the tyre was ok, but after they telephoned the regional office for advice they have agreed to replace it. They have also given me a good price on the other tyres.

Thanks again.
